No episode today.

Our poor old dog died this morning. It was not entirely unexpected, but it's no less of a loss when it happens. She had a long and happy, harum-scarum life, and I miss her terribly. I'll post again tomorrow or Friday. Thanks for your forebearance.

AJ,

I've lived through that a few times . . . and it is never easy. My sincere condolences.

A.J.,

I'm sorry to hear that. What breed, if any, was she? I hope that your memories of the good times you spent together are a source of strength and joy for you now.

Yours,

Martin

Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes, guys.

Suzy was a field spaniel, a breed intended to scare up game from undergrowth. She reached the ripe old age of thirteen and a half, but last night she fell very ill and we had to do right by her.

A wild little thing, she'd had two previous owners who couldn't handle her ways. When she came to us it took her a while to settle, but she soon knew she was cared for and loved. I miss her.

AJ - my scruffy old hound passed away two years ago - he saw me through some sad times and some happy times, and I still miss him, so I know how you're feeling... best wishes, it really is like losing a familly member...

My condolences as well, AJ. (And no hurry keeping up with the blog.)

What they said...
Most of us know how it feels to loose a beloved and loved pet. And while we're all waiting on tenterhooks for the next episode in the chronicles we certainly understand you may not feel up to it right now.
Condolences!

A.J.,
sorry to read that. I lived through the untimely euthanasia of my daughter's dwarf rabbit, and I *hate* to think what it will be when it comes to the little dog we have now (well, I'm 65, he can well outlive me, the Border Terriers have the repute of a rustic, long-lived race!). Yes, it's really like losing a family member -or far worse, thinking of some of them, actually...
Yet, the sorrow is in proportion of all the positive your companion brought you during his always too short life...

My sincere condolences.
